Brief hiatus

Sorry for my absence.. things have been hectic lately. I got a new job and I'm starting June 4th. Also feeling a little under the weather. Need to find my groove and so the blog unfortunately cannot be a priority right now. Don't want you all to think I died or anything. Wishing you all well and I hope to be back soon.

shirt: on sale @ Sears, pants: Free People, Shoes: Mystique Boutique NYC, Bracelet: JewelMint

Please excuse my awkward self. This is why I don't like taking outfit pictures but I suppose that comes with practice. I also had to coax my boyfriend to take these for me haha. Today we went to Port Washington to get some delicious Mexican food. I seriously could eat Mexican food every day of my life, I love it so much. We had a late dinner, I made burgers at home while the guys watched the hockey game (Go Rangers!). Of course we all know tomorrow is Mother's Day... what are your plans? We're going over to Scott's parents house to have some BBQ, yum! I think I'm going to run over to Michael's and pick up some suede cord or something of that sort and make a bracelet using this tutorial from HonestlyWTF.

Here are a few of my Instagrams! Follow me @omgthursday!

See ya later! Thanks for reading :) Happy Mother's Day to all you mamas out there!

A little treat for your Tuesday and a walk down memory lane

Scott and I went to Germany and Amsterdam around this time last year. We found some amazing Euro-pop music that we just fell in love with. I still to this day stream a German radio station via my iPhone. I have to say that I miss Europe so much and would love to live there one day. The atmosphere and demeanor of people is so different than here in the US. I felt more at home in Germany than I feel here in New York. Maybe one day! I just wanted to stop by and share this song with you guys... It's no wonder this song is named "Hypnotizing" because it seriously has that effect on me!

I hope you enjoy the song and have a wonderful day! Thanks for reading :)

Here are a few pictures from our trip that send me a little walk down memory lane...

Happy Sunday to me!

Just dropping by to say hello!

top: h&m, pants & belt: ruche, shoes: urbanog, bracelet: jewelmint, glasses: the dollar store?
I had my boyfriend snap a few pics on my iphone in front of his moms beautiful garden! I went on a little shopping trip this afternoon and picked up a few things including these shoes that I just couldn't pass up!

Aren't they beautiful?! I am seriously obsessed with them! I found them at a store called Mystique Boutique- you can find them all over New York City. It's not very often that I can go into a store and pick out 5 items no problem, this was that kinda place where you just wanted EVERYTHING! And the prices are great, too. Can't beat that!

Hope you all have a great week-  Ready, set, Monday... here we come!

Friday's Fancies :: Decked out for the Derby

Happy Friday everyone! At last the weekend is here. The weather here in New York has been crappy as hell- raining all week! I just checked the forecast and it's supposed to rain all weekend, too- which sucks because my friends and I were planning a picnic on Saturday! Silly us for not checking the weather :( Maybe next weekend!

Anyway, looks like it'll be a quiet weekend in. I think I'll catch up on some projects I've been neglecting. I've been working on colorblocking a pair of my wedges that I got from Target years ago. Here's an update on my progress:

I am working on another coat of blue paint, because I want them to be as bright as possible! I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of what the shoes looked like before. Oh well. The wedge was black before, you can use your imagination.

So, if it wasn't official already- I'm completely addicted to colored denim! I snagged a pair of purple pants the other day!

I'm linking up with {av} at {longdistanceloving} for this weeks Friday's Fancies theme is Decked out for the Derby. I thought this was such a cute idea-- I've always wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby just to be able to dress up and wear a fancy hat! Truth be told, this is not a very fancy hat. Where does one shop for such an extravagant hat?

And a special happy birthday to my wonderful mama! You're the best, I love ya! :)

The Foundation of Any Relationship

So, I found this funny little gif somewhere online and found it to be probably one of the most accurate pie charts of all time. So I figured I'd take this opportunity to do something a little off track- which is talk about the trends I'm really HATING right now. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for wearing what you want to wear and personal style- but that doesn't mean I have to like it! Some of these crazy fads are driving me nuts, so where better to let out my sartorial frustrations than here?!

Okay, let's get this show on the road.

Matching Floral

Let's start with probably my worst enemy. This Elizabeth & James number is one that really triggered my gag reflex.  Who on earth would wear this besides a 90 year old church going woman with a matching hat? I know and HOPE that most people would wear these as two separate pieces, because that MAY (and I'm really emphasizing on the MAY) look alright. WHY OH WHY! And as for the Zara matching shorts and button up...need I say more? I can't deal with this.

Pajama Style

Now onto this catastrophe.. It's just as bad as matching florals. Now I can't say that most of my bedtime ensembles are quite ridiculous, but I definitely don't go parading around in PUBLIC wearing them (okay, maybe I've gone to pick up Chinese take out wearing them... shut up)! I mean, I guess I approve of not having to get dressed to go out of the house and have it be acceptable, but really?

Clear Shoes

These down right get under my skin. Even when I was 5 years old I didn't think clear jelly shoes were cool, and I don't think they're cool now even if they're made into big girl shoes! What's attractive about clear plastic wrapped around your foot, probably causing you to sweat profusely? They probably smush your foot all around and make it look like you have weird wrinkly feet, too. No. Just...no.

Track pants

There's not much to say about this one, it's just atrocious. If I wanted to look like an Adidas campaign I still wouldn't wear these. It is not acceptable to restyle work-out clothing. That is all.

Leather skirts/dresses

Leather just isn't flattering if it isn't structured correctly. I don't understand what people are thinking sometimes. There is an exception to this, though-- I really do like short pleated leather skirts. I've seen a few of those around and definitely can dig them, but yeah otherwise, no.

So now that I've finished my rant, I want to hear your thoughts.. What trends are you not loving right now? There are unfortunately many more trends I could go on about, but I figured I'd stick to the major ones. Yeah I'm a little bit crazy, I know that.
